One thing you'll notice is that I'm ignoring anything with spirit on it. I'll point you in the right directions, dole out some unsolicited advice, and leave the actual gear lists to other folks. Instead, I want this column to be something more akin to a signpost or roadmap. I will be listing a few items, to be sure, but if you came here in search of a comprehensive gear encyclopedia, you're in the wrong place. They're no fun to read and definitely no fun to write. Gearing up in Cataclysm is gradual, challenging, and rewarding. Past the break, we'll dive headlong into the various options available to us at this very early stage in the expansion. This is the beginning of the endgame, and baby steps are still required. Plentiful and easy-to-obtain purples like those offered in normal 5-man instances like Trial of the Champion and the Icecrown instances are nowhere to be found here. Those of us who are used to having the gearing process spoon-fed to us by the past year or so of the Wrath endgame progression are likely in for a bit of a shock. but what's this? Your average gear level needs to be ilvl329 to queue for a heroic? And your gear level is well below that? Bewildered, you pore over your character sheet, noticing with some dismay that you're still using that wand you found off a crab in Vashj'ir on the first day of the expansion, and you somehow never replaced that off-hand from PvP Season 8 in the last five levels. Visions of vast piles of justice points dance in your head as you click the button to queue yourself. Re-energized after the climb from 80, you allocate that final talent point, rush off to the mage trainer to learn Time Warp, and then open the dungeon finder tool, ready to leap feet-first into your first Cataclysm heroic. After literally days of grinding out experience points, your mage has dinged 85. Come for the mage talk stay for the warlock-bashing. Mirror Images is only a last ditch attempt cd and should otherwise not be used.Every week, WoW Insider brings you Arcane Brilliance for arcane, fire and frost mages. There are of course many ways which you can be cheated out of your kill, either by him stopping randomly due to a bug or pools being horribly placed.ĭo NOT use Mirror Images and keep an eye on your pet as these have shown to pull aggro in my past attempts. If all goes well and the odds are in your favor, you should be able to defeat him. If Ice Floes has no charges, you have no procs and you do not have enough room to hard-cast, spamming ice lance is still free damage!Īgain, as you reach the north section of the area and he is about to reach you, begin to go south alongside his poison trail avoiding any pools he may have placed. Also, do not forget to avoid the pools he spawns. As Nibbleh spawned I popped Time Warp, applied Living Bomb, threw out Frozen Orb and stayed as far back as I could while throwing out Frostbolts (If you manage to get 2 Fingers of Frost and a Brain Freeze proc, don't be afraid to pop Icy Veins and Alter Time to get more burst damage out).Īfter he reaches your destination begin to move as close to the green slime as possible WITHOUT allowing him to touch it and proceed to back-peddle while throwing out procs, keeping up Living Bomb and using Ice Floes where no procs are available. I began the fight at the south-east corner of the room and used Invocation. To defeat Nibbleh I used the "Downstream, Upstream" method which has been shown by others on this page. I also of course has my class-specific buffs such as Arcane Brilliance, Frost Armor, Time Warp and my Elemental. I used Master Healing Potion to heal the damage he outputs, 300 stat food and flask. ![]() The Talents I used include : Ice Floes (For casting while moving when procs are unavailable), Ice Barrier (Cause to heck with his damage output), Cold Snap (His damage is high and a 30% heal is almost a must!), Living Bomb (For single-target pewpew) and Invocation (RoP is useless and IW is iffy) ![]() I completed Nibbleh as a Frost Mage ilvl 544 with Legendary Meta and Cloak. I started away from Nibbleh in the corner on the same wall and turretted until he caught up to me, then blinked to the next corner, repeat, blazing speed to the next corner, repeat, after that you have to move a lot more and get creative / be careful with your kite path. According to Alveiah on the (WoW forum]( ) it is doable with the following tactic:ĭid it as frost.
